Tips on How to Prepare Yourself For a Body Detox

by Frances Greaney on March 17, 2012

body detoxHave you been experiencing frequent headaches, constipation, lack of energy and other unexplained health issues? If yes, then you should consider doing a full body detox. Detoxification, or detox in short refers to the overall cleansing of the body through various means such as herbal solutions and other therapies. As the name suggests, it is a process of removing toxins from the body. It basically accelerates the elimination of body waste, helps clean the colon, and enhances blood circulation. Regular intake of processed foods, a stressful lifestyle and exposure to day to day pollution are some of the factors that can lead to toxin build up in the body.

Although detoxification is a great process for your health, it can be quite difficult to do. It is very important to prepare yourself prior to your detox, especially if you're not fit and "super healthy". If you detox too quickly, for sure you will experience side effects such as nausea, massive headaches and fatigue when all the toxins re-enter your bloodstream. With this, let me share to you some tips on how you can prepare yourself for a body detox.

1. Don't do a vigorous detox epecially if it's your first time. It is very important to choose a detox program that is not too harsh on your body. On the flipside, don't choose a very mild detox program since that won't give you anything beneficial.

2. Consult your doctor prior to starting any detox program. Most detox programs involve major diet modifications. Making an abrupt dramatic change in your nutrition can sometimes trigger problems such as acid reflux if you're hyperacidic. So before starting with your detox, it's best to consult your doctor to address your specific issues. Your doctor can give you other detox alternatives if your chosen detox program isn't suitable for your current health condition.

3. Don't binge eat prior to your detox. The main point of having a detox is to clean your body of impurities. Eating lots of junk would then double the work of your detox.

4. For the women, avoid doing a detox if you're pregnant. To be on the safe side, pregnant women should hold off on detoxing until after they have given birth.

5. Plan your detox well. Give it some thought as to when you will start and end your detox. Avoid doing a detox when your stress levels are high. Schedule your detox on days when you can keep your activity level to a minimum.

salt water flush recipeLooking for a fast and effective way to lose weight fast, and rid your body of toxic waste?

One of the quickest and most effective methods to rid your body of the toxins built up in your system while dropping up to 20 pounds in just 10 days, is using the Salt Water Flush recipe.

The amazing Salt Water Flush is part of the hugely popular and successful Master Cleanse detox program, also called The Lemon Detox Diet, The Maple Syrup Diet, The Lemonade Diet, or The 10-Day Cleanse.

When to do the flush

Performing the Salt Water Flush is very simple and inexpensive. It should be done in the morning, upon rising, prior to eating any food. The goal is to flush out the toxins in the colon that have built up over time. Hospitals have used this cleansing method for years, as a type of cleansing alternative to an enema.

IMPORTANT: Prior to doing the Salt Water Flush, or any internal cleansing program, consult with your health care professional.

The Salt Water Flush recipe

The only ingredients needed are non-iodized sea salt and filtered or purified water. The recipe calls for:

• 2 teaspoons of natural sea salt (non-iodized only)

• 32 ounces of warm (not hot) filtered or bottled water

How to do the salt water flush

To make the concoction, add two teaspoons of non-iodized natural sea salt to 32 ounces of warm (not hot) water. Stir the mixture until the sea salt is dissolved and then drink immediately.

After drinking the mixture, some people prefer to massage their abdomen or perform abdominal crunches to help speed up the process. This is not necessary, but can be performed if so desired.

What to expect during the flush

You may feel some slight discomfort, or even hear rumbling sounds in your abdomen while the solution is working. Some people experience a slight stomach discomfort, or nausea, due to drinking a full quart of salt water. This is very typical for some individuals. The combination of the water and salt dislodges built up fecal matter in the bowels, then it's discharged from the body when the individual has a bowel movement.

Most people will experience several bowel movements within 15 minutes to two hours after drinking the mixture. The movements may be either liquid or solid. Each individual is different. So stay near a bathroom.

IMPORTANT: After drinking the salt water mixture, but prior to having a bowel movement, if you feel the urge to pass gas, please don't because that might not be the only thing you will release!

Remember, the Salt Water Flush should be used during the ten day Master Cleanse detox program. Many people who do the flush for the whole ten days report losing up to two pounds per day.
